Doubtless that many people have stories about John and music. I have two stories, and neither of them are about tabla OR music. The first story does have something to do with his now-famous WHITE TABLA YouTube Lessons - actually one in particular. Just after my daughter and her amazing musician/husband were visiting me in California shortly after their wedding, we were sitting watching one of John's lessons. In the middle of the lessons, he stopped and gave a shout-out to MEGAN & JORDAN - CONGRATS OF YOUR RECENT MARRIAGE! That got their attention - a wedding "card" all the way from London! Awesome! And this story segues nicely into my second story - also about a very special marriage - his own partnership with Rachel. Once, in retelling stories about having played a venue at which many exquisite creatures of the feminine persuasion were vying for ?queen of the ball" status, John said something which I will always remember as a new benchmark for love between husband and wife. Musing, he remarked "Those women couldn't hold a candle to my Rachel at home." Now THAT is love!
